People I know say programming is not too difficult but they are programming for several decades. I may try it, but for the moment I am watching Robert Katzschmann challenging the limitations of current robotic designs, advocating for a new generation of versatile and gentle robots that can coexist with humans. Inspired by nature's smooth and adaptable creatures, the talk explores how these new robots are designed, what they look like, and the incredible things they can do.
Robert Katzschmann is an Assistant Professor of Robotics at ETH Zurich. He has made significant contributions to the field through his research on robotic manipulation technologies and the establishment of the Soft Robotics Lab. Robert's work has been published in reputable journals, including Science Robotics, and featured in notable media outlets. He is affiliated with esteemed research centers and serves in key roles such as an Area Chair for Robotics Science and Systems (RSS) and an Editor for the International Journal on Robotics Research (IJRR). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
